We have some fantastic news! We are delighted to announce that we are a finalist in the Scottish Charity Awards 2015 run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) in the award category – Charity of the Year.
We are also a contender for The People’s Choice – Heart & Soul Award, but our success will depend on winning the most public votes. The winners will be announced at an awards dinner held on Thursday 4th June at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh.
We are the only Highland charity and the only mental health charity in the final and we need your help winning the People’s Choice Award! All you need to do is visit our SCVO page and vote for Birchwood Highland. All votes must be in by Friday 8th May by 5.00pm.
Let’s see if we can get mental health and a Highland charity in the spotlight!
Birchwood Highland was established over 25 years ago as a charity working with people with mental ill-health. Whilst we’ve retained our expertise in supporting people with mental ill health, today we focus on improving the quality of a person’s life experiences, whatever their background.
Through our Mission Statement we aim to increase a person’s capacity to live independently and feel
part of the community, thus reducing feelings of isolation.
We support people to build self-confidence and adopt lifestyles that improve their health and well-being. We operate in the Inverness, Easter Ross and Lochaber areas. Many of our staff have been with us a long time and have experience of working with vulnerable people and supporting their recovery.
We believe that investment in staff training is essential in order to provide high quality care, and we require all our staff to work towards the vocational standards set by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
